Type of Degrees offered 

Associate Degree : Academic Degree of 2 years is awarded by Community Colleges. Completion of associate degree can lead to transfer to the remaining 2 years Bachelors Degree in a high ranked university having an articulated agreement with the community college.

Bachelor's Degree : It is Commonly known as Undergraduate Degree and the duration is of 4 years. For Ex : Bachelor of Arts (B. A.) or Bachelor of Science(B.S.) .

Masters Degree : The duration generally for all the master's courses is 2 years. Common examples of master degrees are Masters of Arts (MA), Masters of Science (MS), Masters of Engineering (MEng), Masters of Business Administration. But for courses like Masters in Management, MEng. Degrees, LLM etc. the duration may be of one year.

Doctorate : Commonly known as Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). Duration may range from 3-5 years. Ph.D. students need to submit a research proposal as well as must appear Standardized Test i.e. GRE/GMAT and TOEFL/IELTS for admission.

Entry criteria for Masters program

US universities accept 16 years of education (12+4). B.E., B. Tech, Bachelor of      Pharmacy and Bachelor of Physiotherapy.

Academic Percentage : 58% and above with minimum backlogs.

Acceptable scores of Standardized Tests : GRE : 300+, GMAT : 500+

TOEFL : 79, IELTS : 6.5 overall band.

Other factors that are looked into are the extra curricular activities that the student has been involved in, and the research that the student has done in his subject. His documents such as Resume, Letters of Recommendations & Statement of Purpose are also very crucial and must be drafted very effectively.

Entry Criteria for Masters Program

15 (12+3) years are also acceptable for some of the Universities if the Institution in India is NAAC ``A” Accredited (National Assessment & Accreditation Council). 

3 years of Bachelor's degree acceptable for admissions into Masters for Computer Science, MBA & Public Health courses & in other programs through Pathway with few universities. 

Admissions without GRE/GMAT scores are possible with several universities.

Students with less TOEFL/IELTS can get admission through Pathway or English as a second language program.

Financial Structuring

The Financial Structuring is to be done at the time of Visa for which the following points should be considered - 

Family sponsorship can include Parents, Grandparents or self. 

Proper justification of the sponsors' Job/Business is to be given to the visa officer.

Financial documents can include proof of Savings Balance, sanctioned education Loan letter, Provident Fund, Income Tax Returns of last three years of sponsors. 

It is advised to show the sufficient amount covering the tuition and living expenses.

Does a student's backlogs/ failures affect his chances of admission in the USA?

Backlogs are always detrimental to admissions but US Universities accept few backlogs. No. of acceptable backlogs varies University wise.

How much time does the University take to give an admission decision after the application is made? 

Varies from University to University- 

For Ranked Universities       Almost 4 to 6 weeks from the date of application. 

For Partner Universities       Varies from a week to a month.

Are IELTS/TOEFL and GRE both mandatory for pathway programs? 

Yes, IELTS/TOEFL is mandatory however GRE is optional. Universities which require both GRE & IELTS/TOEFL- 

Oregon State University. 

University of South Florida etc. Universities which gives admission based    on IELTS/TOEFL -

What is PTE & who should take it? Are PTE scores accepted by all universities in the US?

PTE is Pearson test of English- an English Proficiency Test. 

Students who have scored less in IELTS or TOEFL can take this test as there are better chances to score good in PTE.

PTE Test is held on almost all days of the week. 

It is very easy to book the date and one does not need to wait for long to book it as there are multiple centers. 

PTE result is generally mailed within 5 business days of the Test date.

PTE official score reporting is free. Some of the Universities accepting PTE are as follows: 

Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona • George Mason University, Fairfax County, Virginia

University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, Ohio and many more.

Does a student's application get rejected if his/her SOP affirms a plagiarized write-up? 

Yes, the application may be rejected if the SOP is plagiarized. 

Do’s and Don'ts of writing a SOP 

  1. It should be relevant to the Program applied. 
  2. Do not copy the content of SOP from previous student's SOP or from the Internet.
  3. As a consultant do not write the SOP for a student.

Is Bank Balance Certificate compulsory for all UG, PG and PhD admissions?

Yes, Bank Balance Certificate is required for release of an I-20 from US Universities.

All students are required to demonstrate financial ability to pay for at least one year of tuition fees and living expenses before being issued an I-20 by US Universities. 

45k is the approximate general amount. Fund requirements vary University to University. 

How much amount does the student spend for Living & Accommodation in a month? 

Approximately INR 50,000 p.m. (770 USD in a month)

Can we show recent funds at the time of application?

Student can transfer immediate/recent funds from Relatives or other sources and submit the Bank Balance Certificate for release of an I 20

 OR 

Students can have multiple Sponsors like Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Grandparents. Amount can be borrowed & can be deposited in Parents accounts for which Bank Balance Certificate can be made at the time of application only or for the purpose of release of I 20 only.

Purpose Statement (SOP)
